The Nature Masker involves the realisation of making the tinnitus noise recede into the background by overlaying it with sounds of nature from the environment. The brain finds the sounds of nature more agreeable than the actual tinnitus noise. By minimizing the perception of the tinnitus noise the personal stress factor is reduced simultaneously, thus bringing about an additional easing of the tinnitus noise as well.
The Nature Masker has seven diverse nature sounds, such as ocean waves, the murmuring of a brook, rain, forest noises, the twittering of birds, heartbeats and noises that can be individually selected. Furthermore, it has a volume control and a timer that is especially useful for falling asleep. The device can be both battery-operated and also power-operated.
